Lugano Switzerland

  • H2Outfitters 1894 Harpswell Island Road Harpswell, ME, 04066 United States (map)

Unlike the rest of Switzerland, Lugano, situated in the southern part of Switzerland on the Italian border, offers its visitors a unique experience in that its people, customs, and food are more Italian than anywhere else in the country. In addition, its Mediterranean climate supports citrus, palm trees, and olive trees while its namesake lake is surrounded by towering snow-capped mountains and forests providing breath-taking scenery no matter where one looks.

Once we have all landed in Milan, we’ll travel to Lugano with our good friend and Italian/Swiss guide, Enrico Carrasino, to start our Swiss adventure. This is Enricos’ home turf so you are sure to get an authentic experience and an opportunity to see some hidden gems. During our stay in this region, we’ll kayak some of the most beautiful sections of Lake Lugano visiting some of the most picturesque villages perched on its shores, and also paddle on Lake Sils, the largest natural lake in the Alps lying above 1000 meters and situated in the Engadine region. In addition to the kayaking, we’ll set off to explore on foot the many trails around the lake and those in nearby mountains, each providing opportunities to experience wonderful views along the way. A spectacular trip on the UNESCO World Heritage Red Train to Sant Moritz will add one more opportunity to experience the amazing landscape of this region.

If you have always wanted to go to Switzerland and paddle the lakes, see the Alps, hike in the mountains and breathe in the fresh air, then book your spot on this adventure. The charm and beauty of this region is well worth the visit and will have you wanting to go back for more.
