Maine’s largest bay, Penobscot from west to east

Measuring 20 miles wide, and roughly 30 miles tall, Penobscot Bay is the largest Bay in Maine and it offers some of the most spectacular scenery along the Maine Coast.  With open water crossings, several large island archipelagos, and numerous coastal communities it offers kayakers incredible paddling opportunities.  Hundreds of spruce-covered islands, rocky outcroppings, and inlets and bays, provide limitless routes for a kayaker to explore. Rather than a point-to-point trip focus, this section encourages hours and hours of exploration of these huge island archipelagos that exist in the bay.
