Directions to Orr's Island, Maine:
(Note: the island is connected to the mainland by auto bridge--no need to take a boat to get here!)

From the South on the Maine Turnpike:
Take exit 44 off the Maine turnpike (Portland, Rte. 295). Follow 295 through Portland and continue on towards Freeport, Falmouth, etc. This is now 95 North. Follow this to exit 28 (Coastal Rte. 1 Bath-Brunswick). Once off the exit, go to third light and turn left. You are now following signs to Bath, Rte. 1 North. Continue on Rte. 1 for about 3 miles and get off at the Cook's Corner exit (The exit sign also says Orr's and Bailey Island). Once off the exit, go straight through the light and you are now on 24 South. Follow this about 13 miles and we will be located on the right hand side just before you cross what would be your third bridge down on 24. There is a big dirt parking lot here, a red building, and you'll see our kayaks. We are about 1.5 hours from the Maine border, 45-60 minutes from Portland, and about 20 minutes from Cook's Corner.

WHAT TO BRING

Directions to the Somerset Valley YMCA in Bridgewater, NJ:
From the North:
Take Rte. 287 South to exit 17 (Somerville, Flemington). Take first exit on right for Commons Way. At the light turn right onto Commons Way and follow to next light. Turn left here - this is Garretson Rd. The YMCA is approximately 1/2 mile on the right opposite the Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

From the South:
Take 287 North to Rte. 22 West. Exit for 202-206 North and take first exit on right for Commons Way. Continue as noted above.

From the West:
Take Rte. 22 East to Rte. 202-206 North. Exit for Commons Way. Turn left on Commons Way and follow to end. Turn left at the light onto Garretson Rd. YMCA is about 1/2 mile on right across from Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

From the East:
Follow Rte. 22 West to Rte. 202-206 North. Continue as noted above.

WHAT TO BRING

Directions to Riverton Community Center pool in Portland, Maine:

From the North:
Follow I 95 to Bucknam Rd/Falmouth exit. Turn right off the exit and at the next light head straight through. This is Allen Ave. Continue on Allen Ave. past the intersection of Rte. 100 and 26 (there is a Mobil station on the corner here and a Burger King and Dunkin Donuts). Continue to next light and turn right onto Rte. 302. Follow this for about 1 1/2 miles and the entrance to the Riverton School will be on your left just before a light and the brick Fire Station. There is a sign at the entranceway. Once you have turned left into the entrance, drive past the school and park in the big lot. The pool is located in the left corner of the building as you face the school from the parking lot.

From the South:
Take the Maine Turnpike to exit 8 (Westbrook). Once off the exit, go through the toll and turn right at the light onto Riverside Dr. Follow to next big intersection and turn right onto Warren Ave. Follow this until you hit Rte. 302. You'll need to go either left or right. Turn left onto Rte. 302 and go approximately 1 mile. The entrance to the Riverton Community Center will be on your left just before a light and just before the Fire Station on the left. There is a sign at the entranceway. Turn left into the entrance, drive past the school and park in the big lot. The pool is located in the left corner of the building as you face the school from the parking lot.
