Can’t Get Too Much Tuscan Sun
Tuscany through the Eyes of a Chiantigiano
We love the Tuscan hill country. For years the hospitality of the locals has kept us coming back to our favorite village, Impruneta, just outside of Florence in the heart of the Chianti region. In fact, every trip we do in Italy begins here. Over a decade ago we were lucky enough to stumble upon a wonderfully warm and hospitable family-run Inn in the center square of the village. This hidden treasure has been in the Becucci family for generations and the property’s history goes back to a time when it produced the region’s award-winning salumi and other meat products before the war. The Becuccis have always made us feel part of the family which is especially nice after a long trans-Atlantic flight. It is nice to be welcomed like you’ve come home!
The Inn is a place where the local color shines through. On any given day, there could be a visit from the local butcher delivering fresh chicken or the famous slabs of Tuscan steak; the postman could be at the front desk discussing the day’s events & gossip, or better still, join townsfolk who stop in for their morning espresso or Cappuccino... it’s an authentic taste of Italy in an unpretentious setting and become will become our base of operations for the duration.
This new trip that we are introducing is going to focus entirely on the Chianti region. We’ll have 7 days to savor the flavors of its unique culinary offerings and the wonderful local wines, not to mention some of the finest artisanal olive oils to be found anywhere. But of course, there is more to see and experience, the subtleties of color and the texture of the landscape contribute to the overall sense of relaxation and rejuvenated spirit. We’ll be guided on our adventure by one of the Becucci sons, whose local knowledge of the countryside is unequaled. We’ll have the opportunity to hike through the wooded forest searching for mushrooms, enjoy a bike ride through vineyards and small towns on bikes which are augmented by efficient electric motors enabling the entire group to maintain a comfortable pace.
Our gang will have the opportunity to explore other areas of Italy as well. It could be a 2-hour drive to the coast with a short 20 minute ferry to Giglio Island, perhaps a slightly longer drive to the Italian Riviera and the cliffside villages of Cinque Terre, and still closer, visits to the Medieval towns of Lucca and San Gimignano... all possibilities on this paddling-exempt adventure.
Right now the euro is low and as a consequence the value to us is high. Furthermore, because of our long-standing relationship with the Becucci family we are able to offer this 7-day trip at an incredible value, $1950. Once you land in Florence we are at your service so be ready to enjoy Italy from an entirely fresh perspective. Since this is a special opportunity we will need to have a 50% deposit no later than May 12th with the balance due July 1st.
